INTERCULTURAL TRAINING & COACHING

Culture is a subconscious phenomenon that is taken for granted. It is not innate, but is simultaneously learned and modified. Culture is shared by a group of persons and distinguishes them from other groups. Culture is never revolutionary. It is always evolutionary. It becomes a source of conflict only when people of different cultures meet – with each group considering their own culturally-driven thoughts and actions the most correct form. Culture is not a question of origin: It is a result of the values that we learn and the developmental impulses that we acquire along the way.

Our intercultural experts have an enthusiasm for cultural appreciation and understanding. They see themselves as bridges connecting diverse groups. In our training and coaching sessions, they generate understanding and show how messages should be translated without using another language. Our experts raise the participants’ cultural awareness and thus pave the way for synergies – they establish connections that make teams more successful and the results more sustainable.

Formats

The intercultural experts pick up participants at their location and change the backdrop to realize unusual solutions: on-the-go training in a train compartment or plane, meetings with binational teams of experts around the globe or activities that allow participants to experience foreign cultures with all their senses are just a few examples of the individual solutions we develop with our customers every day.

We provide most of the training in the form of procedural assistance to individual professionals and managers, teams and entire business units. From the personal potential analysis of the employees to the precise needs assessment regarding the company’s field of activity, the multi-level training of the participants is planned and implemented together with our customers all the way through certification. This process includes both face-to-face sessions and virtual elements.

Intercultural
Team-building

It is proven that a well-coordinated intercultural team is far more successful than a culturally homogeneous one. Our intercultural team-building activities set the course for a successful cooperation by promoting a stable basis of trust among team members through various exercises. Under expert guidance, the team establishes rules for communication and feedback that will strengthen day-to-day cooperation. The team members also get to know different work styles and how to adapt to them. We can work with both traditional on-site teams and virtual ones.

Expatriate
Training

Demands on the prospective expatriate come from all sides: Their new life must be organized, the family needs to settle in and the culture will require their remaining adaptive capacities. To top it off, the person should manage to be successful professionally. Expatriate training supports this settling-in process by providing integration strategies, content on intercultural awareness and general information about living in the new country. It prepares expatriates and their families for culture shock and answers important questions related to the specific work area in question – issues like relationship management, business etiquette, different work styles and hierarchical structures in the sending country.

Partner
Support

The move to another, largely unknown, cultural space is also a challenge for the partners of expatriates. Our intercultural experts advise partners and supply them with confidence for dealing with the various new situations and challenges – empowering them so that they can make the best possible use of the time abroad. As a result, the partners can act as a stabilizing element and ensure a successful outcome of the stay abroad. The experts at icunet are available to the partners of expatriates before, during and after their stay abroad.

E-Learning

With internationality and mobility playing growing roles in everyday work, the requirements for cross-cultural training and consulting continue to rise. Constant access to information and concrete help should be an integral part of every expatriate's or global manager’s intercultural toolbox.

The country-specific online case studies from icunet interactively support the acquisition of intercultural know-how and enhance sensitivity to cultural differences. In entertaining and true-to-life stories, participants go on a fictional journey to a target country. Virtually accompanying a multinational project team, participants experience key moments in the normal life and work routines in the country. This allows them to “try out” various intercultural situations.

Coaching

The deployment is perfectly planned, an optimal home has been found and the new tasks abroad are a good fit. But numerous assignments fail because the impact of these new impressions and changes on the person are underestimated. What new role(s) is one assuming? What expectations, hopes or fears relate to these roles? Having an awareness of one’s own personal characteristics and preferences leads to higher satisfaction – both in the work context as well as in private life.

The coaches at icunet are competent partners and available whenever their coachees need support. They guide, encourage reflection and thus facilitate a good start abroad.

Still haven’t found what you're looking for? All intercultural qualification measures from icunet are part of the larger ICU® solution. This systematic concept ensures that all modules can be variably combined and tailored to the needs and knowledge of the participants. Our intercultural consultants would be happy to analyze your exact needs and advise you in a detailed conversation.
